Exclusive to Leighton House
Enamel keyring from our exclusive Arab Hall range. Featuring detail from the decorative William De Morgan tile panel from the south wall of the Arab Hall, Leighton House. A perfectly sized gift from Leighton House.
The tile panel was designed and made by William De Morgan, replacing a set of tiles missing from the originals, which were likely made in Damascus in the early 19th century. De Morgan had to rely on his imagination to create the design and made a watercolour illustration as a guide. The resulting half-palmettes were drawn in a vivid dark red with leaves and spirals in white which appear to be more curvaceous than theywould have been if designed by an artisan from Damascus.
